Abstract

Background: The results of the employee performance evaluation at the Muhammadiyah Babat Lamongan
Hospital showed that some employees still got low scores. Based on the result of the performance evaluation
conducted in 2017 and 2018, each semester had not reached the target of 100%. This research aims to
investigate the implementation of employee performance evaluation and work motivation in Muhammadiyah
Babat Lamongan Hospital, and to identify the effects of employee performance evaluation on work
motivation. Methods: This non-experimental study applied an analytical study design. The data were
analyzed with logistics regression analysis. The population of the study was all employees in
Muhammadiyah Babat Lamongan Hospital. It involved 58 samples who are selected through simple random
sampling technique. The data were collected through a questionnaire Results: This research showed that the
implementation of employee performance evaluations in Muhammadiyah Babat Lamongan Hospital was
considered good (60%) and the work motivation was considered good too (51.7%) based on logistic
regression analysis, in which the significance value was lower than Alpha 0.003 > 0.005. Conclusions:
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of employee performance
evaluations has affected work motivation. In other words, if the performance evaluation of employees
increases, it will be followed by an increase in employees’ motivation. It is essential to provide counseling
for employees with a low-performance score to improve their work motivation.
