Abstract

ABSTRACT


Background: Malnutrition is a disease caused by nutrition which is still a problem in Indonesia. Malnutrition can result in failure to thrive, increase mortality and morbidity at nutritionally vulnerable ages, namely toddlers. Malnutrition is the cause of death of 3.5 million children under the age of five (toddlers) in the world.


Research objective: to find out the effect of giving cookies with the addition of Moringa leaf flour on the increase in weight for toddlers in Kubah Sentang Village in 2019.


Subject of the research method: This research was conducted on malnourished toddlers in Kubah Sentang Village. Variable data collection and interventions were conducted from 7 July to 27 July 2019. This type of research was a Quasi Experiment with the One Group Pre Test and Post Test design. The sample is a population that meets the inclusion criteria, namely 20 samples.


Results of the study: Toddlers' weight was weighed using digital scales. Giving cookies with the addition of moringa leaf flour as a distraction is consumed every day 1 pack weighing 96 grams or 6 pieces for 21 days. Data analysis used the dependent t test. The results of the study of 20 samples showed that there was an increase in body weight in undernourished toddlers after giving the Moringa leaf flour cookies intervention.


Conclusion: From the results of the dependent T test it was found (p=0.001<0.05) that there was an increase in body weight intervened by Moringa leaf flour cookies in malnourished toddlers.
